Reflections on “Hope and Healing: A Workshop on Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Self-Care” with Guelph’s Black Heritage Center

Founder Rachel Iris Grant hosted a workshop in October

In October, Rachel Iris Grant had the joy of leading “Hope and Healing: A Workshop on Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Self-Care”. It was a beautiful experience it was. The room was filled with compassion, curiosity, and courage as she explored how dementia and Alzheimer’s affect individuals and their caregivers. Together, she discussed practical ways to recognize key signs, navigate the challenges of caregiving, and, most importantly, care for ourselves along the way.

One of the most special parts of the day for Rachel was having her mom join as her guest. Sharing this experience with her made the session even more meaningful since her mother has been a healthcare worker and caregiver for many years.

Here’s to continuing the conversation and supporting one another, one step at a time. 💚
